no future as a foot model

I do have another patterning project in the works, but I got sidetracked after an unsuccessful shoe shopping trip for C. I was kind of frustrated at the prices of baby shoes. I mean, she doesn't even walk yet, but sometimes I want to put something cute on her feet. Then I had an idea: I'll make some!

These were quick to put together with some linen and cotton plus a few layers of batting and interfacing for the soles, and ribbon for the straps.

I thought I had designed them so that she couldn't get her foot out, but I was wrong. As soon as I put the sandals on, she was doing all kinds of dancing (right out of one of them)! Oh well. A few cute photos with these and her Easter dress and we'll be good.:)

  1. OMG! This is the cutest! What a sweet and pretty design for the modern little girl. :-)

  2. so creative! so perfectly cute! and C could definitely be a foot model - she makes me want the shoes. :)

  3. So cute! Baby shoes are never practical until they walk anyway, so the cuteness factor is by far more important :) And I wonder if it'll stay on better if you make the ribbons longer and wrap around the ankle one more time (like ballerina shoes?) Not sure how it'll look, just my unsolicited 2 cents ;)

  4. perfect. are they easy enough to be lucrative?

Tell me what you think! I love to read comments.
