Fun Fabrics

Some fun fabrics that just came in the mail from repro depot, bought with a Christmas gift certificate. I'm excited about these large scale prints, especially the two Amy Butler ones on the left. Definitely some new patchwork projects on the horizon. Maybe an apron. I love the ones over at moonstitches. Speaking of fabric, mr. monkeysuit posted some resources for fun Japanese fabrics.
I had started this oven mitt as a Christmas gift, but now it's finished in time for my friend's birthday. Began with the piecing following the Denyse Schmidt instructions, but I finished it more like the ladybug bag. Now that I understand the concept of lining, from this pattern, I thought it gave a finished look, without any trim.
Excited about the Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood comedy show that's coming tonight to the university where I work!

  1. Hi Kayla, thanks for commenting on my blog (little-starfish)- just found yours, and it is really wonderful. I love your work and you have some great links. I did some shrink plastic jewelry a while back too - must do some more of that. I'd love to see some of your pieces.

  2. gorgeous new fabrics!! i love that fruit print... i am getting really into kitchen themed fabrics with apron & mitt & placemat visions dancing around in my head.

Tell me what you think! I love to read comments.
